Weapons of Mythology Review

Another relic of all those classic free to play MMORPGs that are long forgotten before they even begun to become popular is Weapons of Mythology, developed and published by IDC Games. The game has an interesting setting, in ancient China including tales and myths but overall fails to deliver the sense of achievement you want from a classic 2015+ MMORPG.

To start off, Weapons of Mythology lets you create a character and assign him to one of 6 clans which indicate your class. Character customization is really limited and feels clunky to say the least, one could say that it’s the only MMORPG that the character creation feels like a painful task.

Gameplay-wise, what you expect is what you get and maybe even less. Its leveling and questing system is absolutely linear, giving you only one quest every time as well as some daily and regular quests. Experience contribution is slow and requires a lot of time to get powerful.

Weapons of Mythology’s combat is where the game is mostly at fault. Clicking skills doesn’t feel natural and feels out of place even at the simplest battles. We could probably forgive this if the game had some kind of innovation that we hadn’t seen anywhere else and had to specifically play this one to see it but, no, that’s not the case.

You can count huge Guild Territory wars and the face that you can use your pets as assistance in battle but that’s about it. There’s a cool relic collecting system that is used so that you can create your own build but that too can’t be taken as an innovation.

To sum up, Weapons of Mythology isn’t a good game to be trying out. Its graphics, performance and sound design are made to a bare minimum and its gameplay has no depth other than mix and matching MMORPG details from other titles. Overall, not a good choice.
