Tibia is one of the oldest running Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs). Published by CipSoft back in 1997, it still attracts a big number of players. It features an enormous medieval world to explore, kill monsters and interact with other adventurers.

The game starts at the area of Dawnport where players learn the basics about combat and Tibia’s world. Once you reach level 8 you are required to choose one of the four available vocations (classes). After that, you can choose one of the world’s towns for your home and you are ready! Tibia is all about exploration, the game allows you to do exactly what you wish. You can kill monsters, hunt, interact with NPCs, search for treasures, do quests, join guilds, there are no guidelines. And of course you can kill people, Player versus Player (PVP) combat is a key element. There are servers that only allow that for guild battles, servers that you can kill others but you have certain penalties and finally servers that you kill others and get rewarded!

Tibia’s graphics are 2D and there is absolutely no sound present. Despite that and the fact that they look really old-fashioned compared to modern games, they are cute and completely functional. The game is known for its difficulty especially when it comes to dying. When this happens (and it happens frequently), you lose everything you carry, including your gold, since it’s stored in your backpack!

Despite the simple graphics, the lack of a soundtrack and its difficulty, Tibia can offer a great gaming experience; after all, it’s been around for almost twenty years, there must be a good reason for that!

Good

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
