The SKIES Review

The SKIES is a sandbox survival-shooter MMORPG developed and published by EFORB Gamebox in 2016. Even though it has been released later than other trademark games of its kind like H1Z1 and DayZ, The SKIES is a more simpler and story driven version of a survival game. The whole game is inspired by a novel written by a member of the developer team, so you can say by only that that this is an emotional experience.

Getting into the game you are asked to create your character in a creation that reminds us a bit of Black Desert Online. After that you get your first quests to survive with material gathering and basic combat training.

Make sure you value your options. In The SKIES every decision you make has an impact on your gameplay and how the story unfolds. This mechanic along with its post apocalyptic scenery reminds us a lot of an online version of Fallout, if something like that ever existed. So calculate your options and make this story your own with dynamic conversations and meaningful choices.

The world of The SKIES is a vast one with 8 km² of wasteland to explore and loot. What’s bad with this is that even though the game was released in 2016, its graphics seem much more dated than it should be.

PvP is the main feature of this game’s mechanics. PK and camping are an everyday classic phaenomenon but if you are looking for something more stable you can get into clan wars for territorial presence or the deathmatch were 20 people fight to glory.

Let’s talk bad stuff now. First of all, if you see the reviews of The SKIES on Steam you’ll probably notice that most of the reviewers claim that the game is dead. Well that’s not false since the survival community sticks to more popular games like DayZ and 7 Days to Die. Also there are often experienced glitches and bugs which in some situations make the game unplayable.

Overall, The SKIES is an interesting survival sandbox MMORPG even though it doesn’t offer anything more meaningful than its story oriented gameplay. If you want to try it beware of the hackers and exploiters in there. All in all, this game is a cool one to try, but not one that will keep you hooked for months.
