Earth was dying, so humanity took up an ambitious plan to colonize the stars and in particular planet Ancora; the nearest and the most Earth-resembling one. Unfortunately, many were left behind… The colonists on the other hand, were separated into two factions with opposing agendas and ideas, holding an ominous but silent grudge against each other; the crush landing of an alien ship in a contested territory was the spark that lit the fire… This is Starfall Tactics, the Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) strategy title from Snowforged Entertainment.

You are a fleet Commander working for one of the three warring factions; your character has skills and talents that can be upgraded and as you explore the vast space and gain levels, more become available. In Starfall Tactics, you control fleets combined of different types of spaceships, however you can assume command of single units and move them around in combat. You have a basic base that acts as your docks, where you can also store your resources and upgrade, repair and build your ships. You upgrade your units by installing modules; almost everything can be improved and parts can be used to several different types of ships. You need blueprints to build modules, some can be acquired through mission completion, others can be bought with in-game cash and finally, rarer ones are found while exploring space.

The game features colorful 3D graphics with each faction’s units uniquely depicted and highly detailed. The Unreal Engine 4 is used to greatly capture the vastness of space and to simulate space battle with stunning visuals and sound effects. Combat takes a little time to master, especially when managing large fleets and takes place in real time. Coordination with your allies, tactical deployment and in-depth knowledge of your advantages and your enemy’s weaknesses are the keys to victory. When you are not fighting your faction’s enemies, you can explore the void and discover its secrets, battle space pirates, mine resources, create alliances and trade with other players.

Developers try to combine elements from Wargames and Real Time Strategy (RTS) titles and bring something new to the whole space conquest genre. The project looks very intriguing and promising; if you consider yourself a fan of space titles, you should really try out Starfall Tactics!

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
