Heroes Evolved is a MOBA game that was developed and published by R2Games in January 2017 for PC and mobile. In a genre that has been a growing force in the spotlight for the last few years, there have been many companies that have tried to get a slice of the cake. R2Games tried to do that by releasing a MOBA game for both PC and mobile platforms.

However, on the 8th of December they announced that they would be shutting down their PC client and focusing on their mobile version of the game. Compared to the PC the mobile platform has just recently started to explore popular game genres, with MOBA styled games like Heroes Evolved, Vainglory and Mobile Legends are just a few of the many new MOBA titles appearing at the mobile stores.

Heroes Evolved combines elements from the most popular MOBA games and manages to do it in a smooth and comparably lightweight fashion. The game features 5v5 maps and the goal is to destroy the enemy team’s base. There are over 50 characters to choose from and they have roles such as Nuker, Disabler, Carry and so on.

There are four modes available: Quick Start, Ranked, PvP and Custom matches. There used to be trouble with low player base and long queue times but that did not seem to be the problem as there was one available server for EU and that was full, resulting in finding a game in just under five seconds. Overall the game is free to play and if you are a fan of MOBA games it is well worth a try.

Growing up I had the luck to encounter the art of video games at a very young age in South Africa in 1990. I was captivated from the first moment I played video games from the educational math games at school to the purely entertaining video games at home. This love cultivated in studying Audio and Visual Arts, where I created the interactive audiovisual play in the form of a video game titled "The Life of Death". Over the last few years I have also been a videogame journalist as a hobby. Recently, I completed my Postgraduate studies in Games Art and Design at the University of Hertfordshire. My goal is to get into the video games industry and be a part of the creation process of video games.
