In Omniconnection’s FPS themed magical war simulator, Grimoire: Manastorm, diversity is the name of the game. With six classes to choose from, literally thousands of skill combinations to master, and a generous handful of maps in which to wage war, Grimoire: Manastorm does a fantastic job of ensuring that every match will feel fresh and unique.

As far as game modes go, there are two distinct options. There is survival mode, in which you are cast out alone – tasked with the defense of a holy sanctuary – against the unrelenting forces of chaos and destruction. In this mode, you will battle against wave after wave of magical enemies, ranging from the pitiful armless skeleton warriors all the way up to great and powerful magical beasts and creatures. While the survival mode is nice to play here and there, where Grimoire: Manastorm really manages to shine is in its PvP. With two more options to choose from, the PvP modes allow for players to either fight with a team in a deathmatch style battle, or two set out alone in a wickedly fun, fast paced, free-for-all battle royale. From the highly vertical movement, to the combo-intensive magical fights, Grimoire: Manastorm manages to condense magical PvP combat down into something that is not only very digestible, but a fantastic joy to play.

With six unique classes to choose from (two of which are always free to play) Grimoire: Manastorm delivers a varied and unique gameplay experience every time you boot the game up. Having thousands of skill combinations at your disposal, you as a player can really feel free to develop your own play style, that not only sets you apart from the competition, but that also will allow you to dominate your opponents in ruthless magical fashion.

Grimoire: Manastorm is a highly unique entrant into the world of FPS multiplayer video games, and as such, has a somewhat more limited audience than other, more generic (and admittedly accessible) games of the genre. Do to this limited accessibility, Grimoire: Manastorm, has suffered in recent months due to its dwindling player bass, but remains in essence a really fantastic game. Being that there is no AI option in the PvP game mode, it is not uncommon today to enter into a game and to be the only wizard on the battlefield. Because of this, unless you enjoy playing solo (ie., survival mode) or you have a group a friends who would be interested in playing alongside you, this is a hard game to recommend at this time. That being said, it is undeniable that Grimoire: Manastorm is a truly unique and enjoyable gaming experience, and that is if ever regains even a small portion of it’s player base, it could really be something once again.

Having been both an avid writer and video game lover for his entire life, the next logical step seemed to be, you guess it, writing about video games. And so here he is, doing that.
