Fistful of Frags is a western themed multiplayer first person shooter developed and published by a dedicated team as a standalone mod of Half Life 2. Since it’s nothing more than a mod, there are no microtransactions or registration procedures you have to undergo in order to play. Just take your skills in a backpack and get ready.

What you’ll notice as soon as you get into Fistful of Frags for the first time is that it’s clearly well made despite of its character. Its graphics are extremely well made, there’s a big variety of weapons to try and use and there are hundreds more ways to kill your opponents other than shoot them.

There’s a variety of different modes to try out: Deathmatch, Teamplay mode, “Break Bad” mode, Team Elimination and Versus mode that have their own ranked and casual servers. Its ranking system is balanced and offers more reasons to try harder in the game, while everyone can be high in the rankings and it’s not only a privilege of the veterans.

In Fistful of Frags you’ll be able to try out many different weapons ranging from shotguns to revolvers, practically anything you’d be able to use in a Wild West game. You can find iconic weapons like Colt Peacemaker/Navy/Walker, S&W Schofield, Volcanic pistol, Deringer, Smith Carbine, Sharps rifle or Henry Rifle. If shooting isn’t your style then grab a machete and start chopping people around or blow them up using dynamite. There’s only as much ways to get to the top as you can imagine.

Where Fistful of Frags lack is in spotless gameplay and in-game balance. Since it’s a mod there are bugs and glitches that you’ll experience from time to time but it still has a dedicated team updating it and keeping it fresh. Some weapons are clearly more powerful than others but your skill will play a huge role in the outcome. Another good thing is that there are close to none cheaters so you can expect clean gameplay inspite of its low playerbase.

Fistful of Frags is a must-play for lovers of the FPS genre. Don’t get fooled by its indie looks, this game is more fun than you’d expect. If you find yourself bored at any point along the way, bring in some friends. It will open up a new way of fun.

She truly realised her love for videogames when she became an adult though and from that moment on she wanted to make it her carreer by any means necessary. After having spent a few years in videogame journalism she came to believe that one day she will be the most famous videogame reviewer in existence.
