When you start looking into the survival genre, there’s no turning back. That immersive feel to get through the night is just to real, even with titles that don’t implement any kind of actual gameplay. Fallen Earth is a cool addition to the genre, bringing all good things survival games have to offer combined with a flexible class system and a huge variety of character customization.

The company that publishedFallen Earth, back in 2011, Gamersfirst broasts that the game offers such big variety of character customization options that no character is similar to the next one. Truth is, its character customization is really, really detailed even though that, when getting into the game, that doesn’t matter a bit.

Aesthetically, Fallen Earth is still a piece of eye candy even six years after its release. There’s a melancholic, moody atmosphere to both graphics and music that sets the mood just right. Even if the game contained no story whatsoever, you would feel like there’s so much more to unveil just because of the mood it sets. Kudos to the developers for that bit.

Gameplay-wise, this game isn’t a polished survival RPG. Its controls are clunky and you may feel lost at your first days before getting the hang of it. What’s to blame for this is mostly its user interface, which is so disorienting that may actually make you feel lost. Overall, Fallen Earth implement basic MMORPG mechanics with a classless character optimization, that lets you be whatever you want, anytime.

Every game has its drawbacks too, though. Even though Fallen Earth is a decent, rather exciting, survival game it also fell victim of the grinding model. You have to spend too many hours to get through basic quests and battles. While its crafting system is one of the most extensive you’ll find, getting the resources needed is a real hustle. Good luck with that.

Overall, Fallen Earth is a fair survival MMORPG that gives you the freedom to be whoever, do whatever and cooperate with a small but really helpful community. If you haven’t checked it already, you should. Even if it doesn’t manage to win your heart, you’ll experience that melancholic atmosphere for yourself and see a completely different aspect of the survival genre.
