Eternal is Dire Wolf Digital’s CCG crafted especially for digital platforms that boldly merges accessibility with complex mechanics. It features both PvE and PvP modes, as well as a dedicated community of players seemingly in love with the game’s approach to the genre.

Eternal has Hearthstone’s smooth, high-quality gameplay, with good animations and sound effects, simple but engaging art style, and a brilliantly functional UI. The game mechanics, on the other hand, go back to a more complex model, not dissimilar to Magic: The Gathering’s classic gameplay, but abandons some of the more dated elements.

Magic was never made for a virtual system, thus it’s design revolves around simpler computing, suited for the human mind. Retroactive card abilities, card multiplication and transformation, etc. are few and far between.

Eternal feature both a mana crystal system, in which you obtain mana through summoning creatures, and an influence system, a more traditional resource design, effectively combining the two major models currently on the market

The game also employs a blocking mechanic, meaning that a defending player can use one of their creature to intercept an enemy attack, protecting efficiently their health pool. This gives the battles a different strategical flavor and conveys great importance to even the weaker creatures. Not to mention that battered creatures also heal.

There are five factions and a plethora of factionless cards, which allow for diverse builds and plenty of theorycrafting.

The PvE modes are very accessible and challenging, while offering great rewards. In fact, the pace of card acquisition is quite fast, reducing the grinding time and giving players more time to strategize and craft their decks.

Eternal is plainly bold and interesting, featuring both improved retro mechanics, and beautifully polished modern game elements, and with mostly positive reviews on steam, it’s a must-try for every CCG enthusiast out there.
