Cloud Nine is a free-to-play MMORPG developed by Mgame and published by NetGame as a sequel to asian themed MMO Holic Online. Its cute graphics and trademark marriage system are basically its selling points, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a solid game as is.

At first you have to create your character and choose your faction between Primus Union and Ganav Libero. You can choose between 3 races and 6 beginner classes which are upgraded to subclasses at level 20. Character creation on Cloud Nine is a classic asian-themed one with limited but cute options.

Combat is pretty basic in Cloud Nine with nothing much too exciting. You complete quests, talk to NPC’s, do activities like gathering, fishing etc and you get your day by, no harm done. It’s crafting system on the other hand is a tricky one with 3 professions which you can level up only one at a time. So that means, is you decide to switch professions you have to start over from level 1 on your current one too.

Monster capture cards are the game’s main selling point, which are basically collectible cards of existent monsters in the game. These give you the ability to summon those monsters as your pets and even let you transform into one. What transformation is, is that you lose all your basic stats, acquire the monster’s stats and look exactly like it, which is a cool way for you to pass through high level areas without being spotted.

Cloud Nine implements the most complex marriage system that you may have seen. Really, if you’ve ever seen a more complex one let us know! In this game marriage have to go from all relationship stages, where you have to raise your “love level” before being able to make a proposal. Also, you have to create the ring, buy love cards to give to your partner and have daily interaction to make this possible. However, lovebirds who manage to get married receive powerful buffs when partying together in Cloud Nine.

Overall, Cloud Nine is a classic cute-sy MMORPG with nothing more than cool side activities. It would be a much more competitive game in the market if its PvP section was so underdeveloped and didn’t have that many bugs. If you want to try an MMO that stands for its name and provide a solid experience than you probably won’t find it here.
