Black Squad is a free-to-play First Person Shooter developed by NS Studio and published by Neobricks. At this time the review is written the game is in Early Access since last summer, with no indication as to when it will officially release. So bare that in might when you claim it’s buggy or glitching – which is not actually.

Gameplay-wise, Black Square is a flawless FPS title that could be addressed to as a perfect cross-over between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. We didn’t expect this but its shooting “behaviour” is extremely well made and feels like an AAA shooting title. Except its completely free.

By completely free we really mean that it’s not Pay-to-Win by any means, we don’t know how it will hold up in the future though. If you are a newbie in the FPS genre, this one is a must-play since it will teach you all you need to know before you grab a more competitive title, while respecting your time and effort.

In Black Squad you’ll find 20 different characters to grind in with a vast variety of weapons and items. Those are spread across 4 modes: Death Match, Demolition, Assassination and Destruction, with Assassination being an extraction mode similar to Proving Grounds.

On the other hand, if you are an FPS veteran then Black Squad has nothing more to offer than new maps to demonstrate your skills in. However,  it does have smooth, well-executed game play with amazing net code that might keep you hooked for a few hours.

What’s the worst thing you’ll experience in Black Squad is the hackers, which roam maps and kill everything in sight destroying one’s experience. Customer Support doesn’t do much about the situation so you’ll have to be patient with that one.

Furthermore, we have cases of unfair spawning, which is a case in most FPS that are not developed by a huge group of people so bear with it before everything is fixed (if it ever is).

Overall, Black Squad is a must-play for FPS rookies, while it’s completely Free-to-Play and has flawless battle and graphics. If you are a veteran of the genre you’ll appreciate it but you won’t find your next go-to FPS title here.
