America`s Army: Proving Grounds is a Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) First Person Shooter (FPS) published and developed by the U.S. Army. It is available through Steam and is a completely free experience that will have you fight against others in fast-paced tactical battles, the American Army Way!

Most of the game’s features are what you would expect from a typical title of the genre; there is a wide variety of customizable equipment and weapons, some of each are unlocked with certain amounts of advancement points, awarded when completing mission objectives and by scoring kills. Combat is easy to master; if you have ever played an FPS game before, it will be a walk in the park. What is not common is the level of realism. One or two shots will have you down and you won’t be able to continue unless a teammate revives you; the obvious exception is of course a headshot!

Visually, the game looks great; well-designed environments, highly detailed character models, fluid animations, stunning effects for grenade explosions, gunfire, everything you will come across a modern field of battle. There are two modes, a 6v6 one that simulates actual training sessions of the American Army and a 12v12 one with larger, more challenging maps. Communication, personal skill and tactical deployment are the keys to victory; forget one-man-army heroics, in America`s Army: Proving Grounds going out solo will only get you killed in no-time, almost as in modern warfare.

The game is also a recruiting tool for the U.S. Army with a few integrated videos talking about life in the army, but all in a subtle and inoffensive way. All in all, America`s Army: Proving Grounds is a great FPS title that will entertain you immensely for many hours and for no charge at all!

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
