Alliance of Valiant Arms, or else known as AMA  is a 3D MMO Shooter developed by Red Duck and published by EnMasse in 2009. If you are a lobby-based FPS veteran then you probably already know AMA but if you don’t then you should definitely try it, despite its age. While this game isn’t any better than any other of its genre, it manages to keep its place as an all-time-classic.

Starting in AMA, you are asked to create your character. While this may sound like a big deal, the character creation in this game is limited to only changing your face while other changes come later on by unlocking cosmetics.

As a new player you will be asigned to AMA’s begginer servers which are level restricted ones so that you can get the hang of its gameplay. You might also want to give AI training a try but truth be told, AMA’s AI is not challenging even the slightest.

There are 5 basic play modes in Alliance of Valiant Arms: Demolition, Escort, Annihilation, Military Drill and Suppression which are pretty much exactly what their name indicates. You can battle in more than 30 different maps and gain experience and Euros, the game’s currency. With Euros you can buy new weapons, Armor and weapon add-ons which you can use to create your own custom made weapons.

Alliance of Valiant Arms implements a stellar ranking system which, apart of giving you a leaderboard place, also provides you with statistics and lets you equip more powerful weapons.

While you can buy any weapon you want you have to achieve a certain ranking to be able to equip them or buy weapons with real cash and equip them immediately. This gives AMA a pay-to-win character which can’t be overlooked. Apart from that Alliance of Valiant Arms is a really rewarding FPS title while it rewards you for even completing achievements. Imagine it like earning new weapons for completing Steam Achievements on Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

Summing up, Alliance of Valiant Arms is a classic MMO FPS title which hasn’t  aged that well. Even though it has nothing less than others of its age, it doesn’t have something more too. If graphics, fast paced battles are your main objective then AMA is not your game. Otherwise, if you are a hardcore FPS player, it is a must-play.
