Albion Online is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) from Sandbox Interactive. It is set in a fantasy medieval world where everything is created by the players for the players.

The first noticeable thing is the complete absence of classes; you can be whatever you want provided that you are proficient with the given type of equipment. This leads to endless combinations and different gameplay possibilities since your skills and abilities are defined by your given armor or/and weapon set. Instead of stats and experience points, fame is the crucial factor here; the higher your fame, the better gear you can use. Fame is also used to learn new skills or unlock new tiers for those already known in the Destiny Board, the game’s skill system.

You will not find any NPCs or Vendors in Albion Online. Instead, everything that can be bought or sold, from food to furniture and gear is crafted by players. You can make a living by gathering resources that other players need or by crafting highly sought-after pieces of equipment. Beware though for the most expensive and useful resources are found in PVP zones and this means that you may have to fight to acquire them or even worse to protect them on your way back home. In-game death is not permanent but can be really painful since once you are down your enemies can strip your cold carcass from everything you have acquired with so much effort!

The game is heavily PVP-oriented; the world is divided in various zones each with a certain color, depending on the amount of PVP combat allowed.  In green zones PVP battle is forbidden while red and black places are where you should expect to be attacked with every step you take. This is where Guilds come in; since in Albion Online cities are player-made and their economy is heavily depended on the free transportation of goods and people, some guilds offer to keep travelers safe for a fee. It is also very common to see guilds fighting for control of a certain territory in large scale, all-out battles.

Finally, the game features great 3D graphics that while they are not the best out there, they look beautiful with colorful, detailed landscapes and artworks that create a nice fairy tale atmosphere. Albion Online is one of those titles that is so much more than a simple game; it is a memorable journey of epic proportions, an experience that every fan of the genre should have.

It was back at 1996 when Theodoros bought his first Personal Computer and with it a copy of Shogun : Total War. That was the beginning of many sleepless nights of exploring the fantastic world of gaming. He calls himself an “expert” defender and that’s his favorite gameplay style but he will not hesitate to grab a shield and go forth to protect his team as a tank. So next time you adventure in Azeroth and see a shield bearing cow named Klaras, you have found our guy! He is also a great fan of Role Playing Games. From Icewind Dale to Neverwinter Nights and Skyrim, you name it, he has played it all! He is not your average casual gamer, he is a dedicated fan!
