Strife Review

Strife is the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) title from S2 Games. It’s in many ways a traditional representative of this popular genre but it also introduces some new and very interesting features.

To start with, there is a pool of more than thirty Heroes to play with; all of them have a cartoonish appearance and distinctive skills and abilities that allow them to play more than one roles. As it is customary, some of them have supporting roles while others are found in the line of fire. What is more, there are pets that follow your Heroes in battle and offer a lot of helpful passive boosts. Any pet can be assigned to any hero something which together with the Heroes’ versatility surely adds a lot of options to your team building.

Two teams of five battle each other in one single map with the objective of destroying their opponents’ main structure called the Crux. The medium sized, beautifully designed map offers a jungle, three lanes and towers. Inside the jungle there are two Bosses, Baldir and Cindara; eliminating them is crucial since they offer certain bonuses to your team. Combat is what one would expect from a MOBA title, fast-paced and fun! Players have their personal courier (that can’t be killed) allowing for easy shopping while in a lane and if you stay out of combat for a while, your health and mana replenish!

Another novel feature of Strife is the fact that the gold from the last hit kills of Heroes and minions is automatically distributed to nearby co-players; in this way, everyone has the same chances to obtain late game items! Items you buy or get as rewards can be enhanced to further increase their stats, or they can be crafted again using different combinations of ingredients to add new bonuses or improve the ones they already have!

In many ways, one can say that Strife is a typical MOBA title; on the other hand however, in many other ways it is not. It offers traditional gameplay that every fan of the genre will surely appreciate plus a number of new features like the crafting system or the shared gold which make the whole experience even more fun and interesting! This is a game you should not miss!
