New cards and archetypes were introduced, along with Dungeon Runs, Quests, Death Knight Hero Cards, while iconic cards and mechanisms were removed.The 2017 Hearthstone Winter Championship was the last time we saw Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament and League of Explorers sets in Standard format while six more cards that were considered a must-have in most decks were moved to the Hall of Fame and would only be used in Wild Formats. Journey to Un’Goro was the first set to be released. Players would follow Elise Starseeker in a journey down the Un’Goro Crater and got introduced to Quests and the Adapt mechanic which would help them focus on certain strategies and find new ways to take advantage of a card’s keywords.Then came the Knights of the Frozen Throne set where players would meet Death Knight Hero cards and the Lifesteal mechanic, while Kobolds and Catacombs opened up a new horizon of possibilities as Legendary Weapons and the Recruit mechanic were introduced.
